The Old Tangshan Town is located in the entrance of Nanhu Eco-City and adjcent to Jianshe South Road, a main road in Tangshan that links downtown area to Nanhu Eco-City. Nanhu Eco-City, an ecological park built on the coal mining subsidence area, was awarded UN-Habitat’s Habitat Business Award for Sustainable Urbanization (Special Contribution for the Practice in China), and is one of the first batch of projects that was named “National Demonstration Bases for Eco-Culture” by China Eco-Culture Association (CECA). It was also the first “National Demonstration District for Sports Recreation” named by the Central Administration of Sports of China and a “National AAAA Class Scenic Spot” named by National Tourism Administration of China.
Nanhu Eco-City is the biggest central park in urban areas in North China. It combines scenic spots, ecological functions, historical and cultural resources, urban activities and sports recreation together and creates a fun, eco-friendly, amazing and culture-rich image.
Old Tangshan Town uses different types of architectures and cultural landscapes as cultural carriers, combines the right business positioning and layout together and reproduces the classic urban life of the old times. In so doing, this project brings the treasured memories and traditional folk customs of the Old Tangshan back to the present and showcases the innate Tangshan spirit. In every link of the distribution channel, the project aims at highlighting the cultural, historical and folk characteristics that is special to Tangshan, thus becoming a middle class business district rich in culture and with a bourgeois sentiment.
The Old Tangshan Town project covers an area of nearly 300,000 m2. It has a floor area of about 200,000 m2, a plot ratio of 0.83 and receives 2.5 billion yuan of investment. Based on the history and development period of Tangshan, the whole project is broken down into 4 districts with different themes: Wind from the South (nan tu xun feng), A Small Hill-A Big World (xiao shan da shi jie), Style of the West (xi yang feng yun), and Wedding Plaza (hun qing guang chang). These districts reflect the history and culture of Tangshan, combine different architectural styles together and interact well with the business layout. Combining the industries of tourism, wedding, shopping, recreation, entertainment and food & beverage, the project has become a showcase of the Old Tangshan style and folk customs.
